Tambi\u00e9n se\u00f1al\u00f3 que sobre Al-Qahtani aun rige una prohibici\u00f3n de viajar durante 10 a\u00f1os y que sufre de diversas afecciones de salud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSe qued\u00f3 ciego del ojo izquierdo debido a la negligencia m\u00e9dica deliberada a la que fue sometido\u201d, dijo. \u201cLa operaci\u00f3n, que el m\u00e9dico decidi\u00f3 que era urgente, se pospuso m\u00e1s de cuatro veces durante la desaparici\u00f3n forzada de la que fue objeto en los \u00faltimos dos a\u00f1os\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dijo que ella y los hijos de ambos, residentes ahora en Estados Unidos, est\u00e1n actualmente solicitando la liberaci\u00f3n total para que al-Qahtani pueda reunirse con su familia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSentimos extremo alivio al saber que Mohammad al-Qahtani finalmente est\u00e1 libre\u201d, dijo Ole von Uexkull, Director Ejecutivo de Right Livelihood. \u201cAl mismo tiempo, no debemos olvidar la injusticia de la detenci\u00f3n arbitraria de al-Qahtani: \u00bfqui\u00e9n ser\u00e1 responsable de silenciar a un defensor de los derechos humanos? Pas\u00f3 12 a\u00f1os en prisi\u00f3n, durante los cuales fue sometido a un trato inhumano y estuvo incomunicado durante dos a\u00f1os. Esos son a\u00f1os preciosos que le robaron a \u00e9l y a su familia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al-Qahtani fue arrestado en 2013 y sentenciado a 10 a\u00f1os de prisi\u00f3n por su trabajo en favor de la democracia y los derechos humanos. Luego de mantener un contacto regular con su familia durante su encarcelamiento, la \u00faltima vez que se supo de \u00e9l fue el 23 de octubre de 2022, aproximadamente un mes antes de su liberaci\u00f3n prevista. Fue objeto de desaparici\u00f3n forzada y recluido en r\u00e9gimen de incomunicaci\u00f3n durante m\u00e1s de dos a\u00f1os hasta el 4 de noviembre de 2024, cuando se le permiti\u00f3 el contacto con su familia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2018 Al-Qahtani fue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vLomjPgMcu0\">reconocido con el Premio Right Livelihood<\/a> junto con sus compa\u00f1eros saud\u00edes defensores de los derechos humanos Abdullah al-Hamid y Waleed Abu al-Khair. Los tres fueron encarcelados por desafiar el sistema totalitario de Arabia Saudita mediante m\u00e9todos pac\u00edficos. Abu al-Khair sigue en prisi\u00f3n hasta el d\u00eda de hoy, mientras que <a href=\"https:\/\/rightlivelihood.org\/es\/news\/the-right-livelihood-foundation-decries-saudi-cruelty-resulting-in-the-passing-of-imprisoned-laureate-abdullah-al-hamid\/\">al-Hamid falleci\u00f3 <\/a>el 24 de abril de 2020 como consecuencia de la negligencia m\u00e9dica de parte de las autoridades saud\u00edes. Estaba cumpliendo una condena de 11 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLas noticias positivas sobre al-Qahtani tambi\u00e9n son un triste recordatorio del destino de sus compa\u00f1eros galardonados y de tantos otros defensores de los derechos humanos en Arabia Saudita\u201d, dijo von Uexkull. \u201cSeguimos exigiendo la liberaci\u00f3n incondicional de Waleed Abu al-Khair y de los innumerables activistas encarcelados por su trabajo en favor de los derechos humanos\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante a\u00f1os, Right Livelihood ha trabajado junto a otras organizaciones de la sociedad civil y la<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R_qnyzxlhXQ\"> familia de al-Qahtani<\/a> para pedir su liberaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s de realizar declaraciones peri\u00f3dicas en el Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU para poner de relieve su situaci\u00f3n, hemos organizado la <a href=\"https:\/\/rightlivelihood.org\/freealqahtani\/\">campa\u00f1a #FreeAlQahtani<\/a>, hemos celebrado <a href=\"https:\/\/rightlivelihood.org\/es\/news\/international-community-must-call-out-sportswashing-and-human-rights-abuses-in-saudi-arabia\/\">conferencias de prensa internacionales<\/a> y facilitado <a href=\"https:\/\/rightlivelihood.org\/es\/news\/son-of-disappeared-saudi-laureate-met-with-hostility-at-saudi-embassy-for-delivering-petition-calling-for-his-release\/\">visitas de apoyo<\/a>, todo
