\u201cLas personas comunes tienen una incidencia mucho mayor de lo que pueden imaginar\u201d, dijo Oleksandra Matviichuk<\/a>, presidenta del Centro para las Libertades Civiles. \u201cLa movilizaci\u00f3n masiva de gente com\u00fan en todo el mundo puede cambiar la historia mundial m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que la intervenci\u00f3n de la ONU\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeber\u00edamos apoyarnos mutuamente en esta lucha por la libertad\u201d, agreg\u00f3. \u201cSolo expandiendo la libertad haremos que nuestro mundo sea m\u00e1s seguro\u201d.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de las galardonadas y los galardonados de 2022, la activista clim\u00e1tica sueca Greta Thunberg<\/a>, anteriormente laureada con el Premio Right Livelihood, tambi\u00e9n particip\u00f3 en el evento. Thunberg coment\u00f3 sobre la demanda que j\u00f3venes activistas clim\u00e1ticos iniciaron contra el estado sueco la semana pasada.<\/p>\n

\u201cPa\u00edses como Suecia son desproporcionadamente responsables de la crisis clim\u00e1tica y, por lo tanto, deben actuar, deben asumir la responsabilidad y liderar el camino, y no lo est\u00e1n haciendo\u201d, puntualiz\u00f3 Thunberg.<\/p>\n

ACERCA DE RIGHT LIVELIHOOD<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cada a\u00f1o, se presenta el Premio Right Livelihood, que hasta la fecha distingui\u00f3 a 190 personas y organizaciones de 74 pa\u00edses. Reconociendo las acciones de valientes agentes de cambio y construyendo conexiones significativas alrededor del mundo, Right Livelihood intenta contribuir a un cambio social urgente y duradero.<\/p>\n

TOCKHOLM – People should mobilise on a massive scale to demand freedom, which is the only way to make the world a safe place, said Ukrainian human rights defender Oleksandra Matviichuk on Wednesday as she received the 2022 Right Livelihood Award<\/a> in Stockholm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCommon people have a much greater impact than they can even imagine,\u201d said Matviichuk, Chairwoman of the Center for Civil Liberties. \u201cMassive mobilisation of common people all around the world can change world history quicker than UN intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should support each other in this struggle for freedom,\u201d she added. \u201cOnly by spreading freedom will we make our world safer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Besides the 2022 Laureates, previous Right Livelihood Award recipient Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg also took part in the event, commenting on a lawsuit launched against the Swedish state by youth climate activists last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cCountries like Sweden are disproportionately responsible for the climate crisis, and therefore they need to act, they need to take responsibility and lead the way – and they are not doing that,\u201d Thunberg said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy choosing actively not to do that – that is not only illegal, it is also a betrayal towards all present and future generations. That is why 636 children and young people in Sweden are now suing the Swedish state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other previous Right Livelihood Laureates Egyptian woman\u2019s rights defender Mozn Hassan and a representative of the Russian human rights organisation Memorial also spoke at the event. Memorial and Matviichuk\u2019s Center for Civil Liberties are joint recipients of this year\u2019s Nobel Peace Prize.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s prohibited in Russia to be against the war,\u201d said Memorial\u2019s Alexandra Polivanova. \u201cBut we try to do everything we can to overcome Russian imperialistic ambitions and transform Russian society so that it will be dangerous neither for neighbours nor for Russians.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Right Livelihood Award was presented tonight to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fartuun Adan and Ilwad Elman<\/a> \u201cfor promoting peace, demilitarisation and human rights in Somalia in the face of terrorism and gender-based violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oleksandra Matviichuk and the Center for Civil Liberties (CCL)<\/a> \u201cfor building sustainable democratic institutions in Ukraine and modelling a path to international accountability for war crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cecosesola<\/a> of Venezuela \u201cfor establishing an equitable and cooperative economic model as a robust alternative to profit-driven economies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO)<\/a> \u201cfor their courageous work for climate justice and community rights violated by extractivist energy projects in Uganda.\u201d<\/p>\n
