First People of the Kalahari (Botswana, RLA 2005)

The Botswana High Court is due to hear a First People of the Kalahari (RLA 2005) application to unseal their water borehole in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve this week.

In 2006, they won a court case against their eviction from their land, which they had been forced to leave because of diamond finds. But the Botswana government prevents  Bushmen from returning by cutting off their water supply.

Last week, soldiers and police entered the reserve, supposedly to intimidate the Bushmen.
