“This award offers recognition and a system of solidarity for not only my mom and me, but for the big team that we work with that doesn’t always have a spotlight on them.” (Ilwad Elman, Somalia, 2022 Laureate)
Right Livelihood has presented the Award annually since 1980. Through the award, we honour and support the actions of brave visionaries and aims to boost urgent and long-term social change. We do not apply any special categories – the world is complex and interconnected. You can learn more about Laureates in the fields of human rights, environment, journalism, peace, culture and sustainable development, to name a few examples, among our 190 Laureates from 74 countries.
