Update from the Right Livelihood Foundation concerning COVID-19

News 17.03.2020

In the wake of the global crisis caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Right Livelihood Foundation stands in solidarity with its Laureates and friends around the world. The Foundation is ready to support Laureates in any way it can, while also ensuring the safety of its staff.

Given the unprecedented and rapid spread of COVID-19, the Right Livelihood Foundation made the decision last week to ask staff to work from home in order to preserve their health and contribute to slowing down the spread of the virus. The measures are foreseen to stay in effect until May 31, 2020, subject to further change as the situation evolves.

During this time, the Foundation’s staff will continue their work on the same level as before, even as disruptions are expected in certain work processes. Therefore, the Foundation asks for patience in the coming weeks.

While offices in Stockholm and Geneva are closed, staff members can be reached at the contact information listed here:

In these challenging times when the spread of a virus is being coupled with the closing of national borders, the Foundation expresses solidarity with its Laureates globally and urges governments to exercise utmost caution to protect human rights while ensuring the well-being of their citizens.
