Laureates sign petition directed to government of Peru

Several Laureates have signed a petition launched by Raul Montenegro (RLA 2004), asking the government of Peru to protect the life of Klaus Hönninger, the director of the Paleontological Museum Meyer-Hönninger in Lima (Peru). Mr Hönniger faces continuous death threats since he scientifically proved the damage done by the Dakar Rally in paleontological sites of the Ocucaje Desert, and communicated these findings to the media.

Klaus Hönninger is, as is Raul Montenegro (RLA 2004), part of the group of environmentalists who earlier asked the governments of Chile, Peru and Argentina to look into the environmental and cultural damages caused by the Rally and the overall legality of the event.
