Kajsa Övergaard joined Right Livelihood’s Board of Trustees on February 1 for a four-year term. Övergaard has been an integral part of the organisation for nearly two decades, serving as a Senior Advisor and building deep relationships with the network of Laureates. Her legacy of care and environmental stewardship continues as she takes on this new role.
Thanks to her previous work with Right Livelihood, Övergaard brings invaluable knowledge and experience to the Board.
“I hope that I, with the knowledge and experience I have of the organisation, its Laureates and their issues, can contribute to Right Livelihood’s strategic work,” Övergaard said. “I hope that I can be a constructive and valuable link between staff and Board.”
Övergaard explained that she chose to remain involved with Right Livelihood because of the qualities that have resonated with her since the organisation’s founding in 1980.
“Right Livelihood is a unique organisation because of its aim from the very start: namely, to contribute to radical systems change,” she said.
Further reflecting on her decision to join the Board, Övergaard said her main focus would be on increasing inclusivity and highlighting the diversity of voices.
Another key aspect that drew her to this position is the opportunity to help select new Laureates.
“As a Board member, I will be part of choosing new Laureates—one thing that I have not been able to do in my previous roles within Right Livelihood,” she said. “I am very much looking forward to that!”
