Several Laureates signed open letter in support of ongoing Colombian peace process

The International Poetry Festival Word in the World and the World Poetry Movement, of which Festival Internacional de Poesía de Medellín (RLA 2006) is a member, published an open letter for peace in Colombia.

Not only is the country suffering from the war that has been going on for over half a century, making it one of the longest wars in human history, it is also affecting political stability in South America.

Currently the Colombian government and the guerilla group FARC are advancing peace dialogues. The signatures on the open letter speak out for the strengthening of these peace talks for an immediate ceasefire and for the materialization of agreements leading to a state of social justice, peace, dignity and reconciliation among Colombians.

Several RLA Laureates signed the open letter in support.
