Pentagon Papers officially released

News 13.06.2011

On June 13th, the Pentagon Papers will finally be declassified and released by the Nixon Public Library. Exactly 40 years ago, Daniel Ellsberg (RLA 2006) leaked the report on U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War to various newspapers, most prominently The New York Times.

In an interview with CNN, Daniel Ellsberg spoke about the political situation in the USA today, saying that all crimes committed against him during Richard Nixon’s presidency ”are now legal” thanks to the Patriot Act and other recently passed laws. Ellsberg comments further on the American involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya and on Bradley Manning, who allegedly passed classified material to Wikileaks.
